Those of you who have been involved in the world of decentralized finance for a long time will surely have heard about Zerion, one of the best interfaces for DeFi. Today we will explain what it is and how it works in a way to make it accessible also to a non-DeFi user base. P.S. before we start I must admit that Zerion currently has one of the most beautiful logos in the crypto/DeFi sector (imho).
What exactly is Zerion?
It’s like a bank, but better! Simply put, Zerion is a gateway that offers its users the easiest way to connect with decentralized finance. Zerion features the portfolio function through which it is possible to track your entire DeFi portfolio in real time; it integrates Compound for passive earnings through crypto asset lending; it allows you to buy and sell cryptocurrencies through Kyber, Uniswap and other DeFi protocols and finally, thanks to the integration of Maker and Compound, it is able to offer stablecoins for lending using cryptocurrencies as collateral. Overall, everything you need in the DeFi world can be found in one place without having to create dozens of accounts for every single transaction. All this is enriched by a visually spectacular design and, as already mentioned, by a mystical logo that remains easily imprinted.
Besides the above mentioned integrations, Zerion has also been offering support for InstaDApp, 0xProject, Aave, PoolTogether, iEarn Finance and Synthetix since March of this year. The project has been active for several years, although initially the founders used their own funds for the whole management and creation of their App. Later, in 2019 they received funding of $2 million (quite small in the crypto world) from some companies already active in the crypto field. These funds were then used for the new DeFi integrations but also for the purchase of an already active and working DeFi dashboard: MyDeFi.
Like other Apps operating in DeFi, Zerion does not need any personal data for its services and is also a non-custodial app. To use the App simply connect a wallet like MetaMask from the app.zerion.io page! Other methods to access it are: Fortmatic, Mobile Wallet, Coinbase Wallet, Portis or Ledger. In order to access the management of your portfolio, it is sufficient to enter an Ethereum address or an ENS domain. After choosing the desired wallet you will have full access to the Zerion dashboard, where you will find a well organized screen and the possibility to connect new addresses and/or wallets. This will allow using multiple wallets and there will be no need for multiple logins. At the top left there will be your ETH address with the Total balance.
The main screen allows checking the performance of your portfolio for a desired period (days, weeks, months) or you can use some practical features such as the history of your wallet (i.e. your last transactions). The other functions are used to actively participate in the DeFi world by lending or borrowing crypto assets and stablecoins. Finally there is the Exchange button that allows to trade crypto assets thanks to the liquidity of Kyber and other DEXs already established and high in liquidity. This eliminates the need to use centralized exchanges and the entire process from A to Z becomes decentralized. Until a couple of years ago, this might have seemed like a dream, but today it has come true!
The Zerion mobile app for iPhone and Android can be downloaded from the official website. Although when it comes to managing money we always prefer to use the Desktop. Mobile apps are a valid alternative when you need to perform quick operations.
The Zerion team
The people of the Zerion project are young and well known crypto guys: Evgeny Yurtaev, Vadim Koleoshkin, Alexey Bashlykov, Andrey Balyasnikov, Pavel Brek and Sergey Volkov. As already said, the two founders used their own funds to finance the project and this is sufficient to understand how much the team is involved in the project. To learn more about these guys we suggest following their official Twitter account. (They are both very active and available for any doubt or curiosity about Zerion and other crypto projects).
