A few days ago I started trading also on PancakeSwap, since many projects have decided to use this chain lately because of the high fee costs on Ethereum. I’ve noticed that PancakeSwap is a bit different from Uniswap as it crashes a lot if you don’t use the right wallet. Now that I’ve tried a few, I can say with certainty that the best wallet for PancakeSwap remains MetaMask (which is also the best on Ethereum for Uniswap, SushiSwap or other DEXs that connect to in-browser wallets). However, using MetaMask on PancakeSwap is not super easy, especially if you are a beginner. Here is our simplified guide!
How to use MetaMask on Binance Smart Chain
I would like to point out that even if I use MetaMask, I usually prefer to use 2 different wallets: one dedicated to DEXs on Ethereum and the other one for DEXs on Binance Smart Chain. So, proceed to create a new wallet on the same MetaMask by clicking on the coloured circle on the top right of MetaMask and then on ‘Create New Wallet’. Do the usual procedure and write down the 12 backup words on a piece of paper, so you never lose them.
Now that you have a new account, open MetaMask, click on the coloured circle at the top right and go to the SETTINGS section.
Continue by heading to Network and look for the entry ‘Add New Network’ at the bottom. Once you are there you only need to add the BSC network settings, which are these (provided by the official Binance Academy page):
- Network Name: Smart Chain
- New RPC URL: https://bsc-dataseed.binance.org/
- ChainID: 56
- Symbol: BNB
- Block Explorer URL: https://bscscan.com
That’s it. Now open MetaMask and look for the words ‘Ethereum Mainnet’. When you click on it, several networks will open up and you can choose whether to use Smart Chain or Ethereum Mainnet. Obviously, when you use the account you just created, i.e. account 2, you will have to connect to Smart Chain, whereas when you use the other account, i.e. the Ethereum account, you just have to go back to the Ethereum network. A no brainer that will solve a lot of problems.
How to use PancakeSwap with MetaMask
I usually used PancakeSwap with Binance Chain Wallet and TrustWallet and never had any problems during purchases. However, I noticed yesterday that there were problems during sales and by changing wallets these problems disappeared. You might not have problems with other wallets either, but it’s always better to know all the options before choosing a preferred wallet.
