A popular search on Google in recent months is ‘how to create erc20 tokens‘ or ‘how to create bep20 tokens‘. ERC20 tokens are tokens belonging to the Ethereum network and can be used in the whole Ethereum ecosystem, such as Uniswap, Etherscan, 1Inch, SushiSwap and so on, while BEP20 tokens are tokens belonging to the Binance Smart Chain ecosystem, working perfectly on PancakeSwap, traceable on BSCScan and so on. Everyone would like to create their own token to brag to their friends, to test or to create a serious project in which this new token will be used. Today we will explain how to create these tokens with just a few clicks, without any knowledge of programming in Solidity or other languages! Nice, isn’t it? Follow us!
How to create ERC20 tokens
To create an ERC20 token you will first need an Ethereum wallet such as MetaMask and some ETH funds to pay the fee for creating the smart contract. Once you have created and filled out the wallet, go to this page and you will be faced with an online application where you can fill out some data fields to decide what type of token to create.
To start you will need to enter the name of the token, for example ‘Ethereum’ and then the symbol that will be used on Etherscan, CoinGecko, on DEXs and so on, so in this example ‘ETH’. To give a fictional example, if your project is called Best Western Token, the symbol could be BWT, which is the first letter of every word in the name. You can fantasize about this as much as you want, but I recommend that you always check that the name or symbol is not already present on CoinMarketCap or CoinGecko, as it will be difficult to overtake an existing token and your token could always be obscured by competitors.
After the name, you will have to choose the total supply of the token and the number of decimals. For the first option, don’t use commas or full stops, so if you want 1 million tokens you will have to write 1000000. Do not change the decimals, since 99% of ERC20 tokens use the same number of decimals: 18. In the advanced options, you can decide the address that will be the owner of the smart contract and therefore of the token that has just been created and ONLY this address will be able to connect with Etherescan to update the social profiles, the logo and the link to the official website associated with the project, so it is very important! Among the other options, there are possibilities to create special tokens, with burn, deflationary, with mint function etc, but the best tokens are the classic ones so we do not recommend you to select any of the options.
In the end, click on CREATE TOKEN and approve the transaction in your Ethereum wallet (MetaMask on Chrome is always the best choice). The cost of the transaction always varies and we recommend that you only create tokens when the average GWEI is low. You can check this at ethgasstation.info!
How to create BEP20 tokens
To create BEP20 tokens you need to follow the same procedure as described above, but on a different page! Choose a name, symbol, number of total tokens, decimals and click on Create Token. Don’t forget to choose the owner of the smart contract so that you can update your token information on BSCSCAN, the website created by Etherscan for tracking all BEP20 tokens.
The smart contracts used are very simple codes that cannot be hacked as they have passed several audits. Obviously, if you make any changes, always try to be careful and have the code checked by AUDIT companies to avoid problems in the future!
