Although NFTs are not a hot topic at the moment, we are pretty sure that sooner or later the trend will return and NFT projects will become stronger than before. That is why we want to help you understand how to create and sell proprietary NFTs. To create NFTs (Non Fungible Tokens), whether it’s a piece of art, an image, a video or anything else, you don’t need any special knowledge of cryptocurrency and it’s a relatively simple process.
You need to decide on which blockchain you want to issue NFTs. For example, Ethereum is currently the main blockchain service for issuing NFTs, but there are other blockchains that are becoming increasingly popular: Binance Smart Chain, Tron, EOS, Polkadot etc.
How to Create NFTs
An important thing to understand is that each blockchain has its own standard of NFT tokens, wallet services and compatible markets. If you create NFTs on Ethereum you are only able to sell them on platforms that support the assets. OpenSea is an NFT marketplace based on Ethereum. But let’s take an example focusing on creating an NFT, artwork, music or video on the Ethereum blockchain.
The first thing you need is a wallet that supports ERC-721 (i.e. the Ethereum-based NFT token standard), such as MetaMask, Trust Wallet or Coinbase with about $50 – $100 in (ETH) available. You can buy Ethereum on Binance or Coinbase.
Once you have created a wallet, you should know that there are a number of NFT-focused platforms that allow you to link your wallet and upload your chosen image or file that you want to turn into an NFT.
Ethereum’s main NFT marketplaces are:
They all have a “create” button in the top right-hand corner of the page.
But let’s take the operation of OpenSea as an example, since it is, at the moment, the largest NFT exchange, although the principle is similar for the other platforms as well.
Next, by clicking on the “create” button, circled in red, you will be taken to a screen where you need to connect your wallet based on the Ethereum blockchain. After entering your wallet password, the platform will automatically connect your wallet to the marketplace. The next step on OpenSea is to click the “create” button in the top right corner and select “My Collections“, where you will find the NFT collections you have created and from there click the blue “create” button.
Once you have clicked on “create”, a window will appear allowing you to upload the file whether it be artwork, video, photo, etc., and you can add a name and a description, although the latter is not compulsory. Once you have uploaded the desired image it will appear in the collection, you will need to add a logo image by clicking on the pencil icon in the top right-hand corner.
You are now ready to create your first NFT.
Click on the blue button “Add New Item“.
You will be shown a new window in which you can upload your own image, audio, GIF or 3D model. Of course on OpenSea and other markets, you also have the option to include special traits and attributes to increase the uniqueness of your NFT. You also have the option to include content that can only be viewed by the buyer. For example: passwords to access certain services or discount codes and contact information.
When you have finished, click on “create” at the bottom and sign another message in your personal wallet to confirm and complete the creation of your NFT. The artwork should then appear in your collection.
How much does it cost to create NFTs?
Platforms obviously charge a fee for creating NFTs. For example, with Ethereum-based platforms, the commission is known as gas and the cost of gas varies depending on the congestion of the network.
How to sell NFTs
To sell NFTs, you need to locate them in your collection, click on them and find the “Sell” button, this will open a pricing page where you can define the terms of sale and you can choose whether to run an auction or sell at a fixed price.
